Choice EVV – Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions specific to
Electronic Visit Verification (EVV).
Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is an electronic method for submitting your time worked. It is a federal requirement included in the 21st Century Cures Act. Choice Home Care uses its own EVV system that all workers will use to record all of their shifts in real-time.
To download the Choice EVV app to your smartphone, go to the App Store or Play Store on your device and search for “Choice EVV” or “Choice Home Care”.

We are onboarding Caregivers to the Choice EVV system in waves so we have the resources to help all employees who may have questions or need assistance. When it your turn you will receive a text and a phone call to confirm your start date.
A smartphone is necessary to clock-in and clock out of every shift. If a caregiver is unable to use their own device they can use the clients/families device with written consent from the client and approval from the office. Contact the office for more details.
If you noticed that you forgot to clock-in while still at the client, please clock-in and complete your shift as you normally would. A late clock-in is always better than no clock-in at all. After you have clocked out you will be given the opportunity to adjust your start or end times within reason in case you completely forgot to clock-in/out.
Yes. You can have the application closed when you are not actively clocking in or out for your shift.
Please contact the office immediately to assist you if you are not able to clock in for a particular client or client’s service.

No. GPS needs to be turned on to capture the start and end location of your visit for compliance. The app does not collect GPS points in between the start and the end of the services.
Your Clock-In timer will remain running until you recharge your battery. Then you can log back into the app and pick up where you left off. (This also occurs if you lose signal). Everyone gets paid on time and more efficiently.
The amount of data that is sent and received during each visit verification is negligible, just 100KB per clock-in and 120KB per clock-out. There is no other data transfer outside of this. So, for example, if a caregiver averages two client visits per day (clocking-in/out each time), 5 days a week, this would translate into 80 data transfers per month. At an average rate of approximately 110KB per transfer, this equates to 0.010GB or less than one percent usage, based on a 2GB monthly plan.
